What it does
Virtual trips across Europe with a gaming component. 360° panoramic camera footage takes you through cities, surroundings and landmarks. The videos are recorded in 8K resolution but are delivered to the viewer via adaptive streaming ranging from 2K to 8K depending on the selection. For convenience, videos can be downloaded for offline viewing. A game mode is added to regular viewing, where the user controls a character with WASD keys, collects items, takes photos and saves locations. Social features let users like and comment directly inside the scene. Interactive objects include an old camera that transports the player to the past and a flashlight that turns on in dark areas. The player’s camera offers LUT filters for a cinematic look and other multimedia tricks. Panoramas are generated by a custom engine running on an Apple Mac mini M4 Pro, where video scenes are assembled and processed by neural networks (removing the operator, adding dynamic auto‑exposure and halation effects). After assembly, projects are hosted on Cloudflare R2 with low‑cost plans. An iOS app has been created for phone viewing, featuring a custom joystick‑based control scheme in the mobile version.
